Dubbed F8, as a nod to their famous 8-hour hackathons, Facebook’s annual developer conference brings together developers and businesses from around the world to explore the future of technology.
Designed by Facebook and fabricated by The Shop @ Show Ready, Festival Hall is the 60,000 SQ FT hub of F8. It features 13 activations, over 115 product demos and interactive activities, and drives face-to-face engagement with over 100 subject matter experts to help Facebook make good on their mission to bring the world closer together.
By creatively employing unique mixtures of individual product colors, industrial grade metals, wood, cork, glass, and acrylic, as well as fabricating structures with organic compound curves, undulating lighting treatments, and plant life throughout, we were able to create distinctive themes for each business group while maintaining overall brand consistency for Facebook.
Some of the fabrication and engineering highlights at F8 included four 25-foot tall internally lit towers, 360° inset spinning stools for VR demos, a 90×68 freeform aluminum lattice ceiling with internal wire management, and a hanging kinetic sculpture with 74 graduated mirrored fins to create an evolving wavelike halo above the hall.
